Tome Topple TBR // We’re going to try this again

Tome Topple TBR.jpg

My first Tome Topple attempt was… not a success… I managed to listen to Gemina while also getting through the first three Harry Potter books (even though I was supposed to read the fourth for the challenge… but it’s still a success for me)… and that was it ¯\_()_/¯.

SO we’re trying it again with different books! (Maybe… I’ll explain below). Tome Topple is a readathon that lasts two weeks and the idea is to try reading books you’ve been meaning to read that are over 500 pages. The Goodreads group is here and the link to the Twitter page is here! If you want to participate, here’s a link to the creator announcing this round. This readathon starts on June 29th and ends on July 12th.

Now, here’s my approach to the challenges: last round I limited my choices, therefore letting the mood reader inside of me dictate and lead me to failure. So, not only am I giving myself options (you didn’t think I’d read all of these books did you?) I’d get some ARC’s out of the way.

Challenges:

Read more than 1 tome

All the books for this challenge count for this one… cause why not?

Read a graphic novel (still over 500 pages!)

I don’t…. actually… own graphic novels… this long?? I actually didn’t know graphic novels could be this long?????

Read a tome that is part of a series

Obsidio { The Illuminae Files #3 } by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff // 615 pages – We’re keeping with the theme and using this readathon to complete this series

Reviews: IlluminaeGemina

The Diviners { The Diviners #1 } by Libba Bray // 578 pages – I have been thinking about this one constantly for no reason at all?? Though the more I think about it, the more I think this won’t happen…….. ¯\_()_/¯

Hero at the Fall { Rebel of the Sands #3 } by Alwyn Hamilton // 503 pages – After Traitor to the Throne’s ending, I’ll admit I was a bit bitter… SOME PEOPLE DIDN’T NEED TO DIE OKAY?

Reviews: Rebel of the Sands; Traitor to the Throne

These Rebel Waves {Stream Raiders #1 ARC} by Sara Raasch // 480 pages (yes, I’m rounding don’t @ me)- I know it’s not gay pirates…. I know that now T_T but it still sounds interesting

For a Muse of Fire {For a Muse of Fire #1 ARC} by Heidi Heilig // 512 pages – I loved Heilig’s The Girl From Everywhere duology and I mean… “an engrossing journey that weaves magic, simmering romance, and the deep bonds of family with the high stakes of epic adventure.” Sounds good amirite?

Buddy read a tome

I fail at buddy reading. I tried last year… it didn’t work out. I mean, I’m open to it… but yeah…

Read an adult novel

… I don’t… have any adult books I want to read… soooo if I find one during the readathon then that’ll be that ¯\_()_/¯.

Talk to Me

  1. I love Tome Topple! It’s such a fun readathon (and lowkey the only way I’m gonna read those huge books on my tbr) Good luck! 💕

  2. I’m participating on Twitter for my first ever attempt at tome topple. There are sooo many choices in my TBR though.. I haven’t chosen yet.
You answered the graphic novel challenge exactly as I would too! Glad to know it’s not just me 🙈

  3. Good luck, LaRonda!

Every time I see “The Diviners” at my library, I inch towards it and eventually talk myself out of getting it (because, uh, I already have three more library books at home). But, wow, I’ve heard wonderful things about that series! Especially the audiobook!

      1. Yeah, I can understand that, lol. Large audiobooks seem scarier to me than large books, for some reason. But, yay for getting all of them?? I hope you like them!

  4. I’m thinking about taking part in Tome Topple as well. I’m not completely sure yet, as I have some exams and other things then as well. We shall see! Good luck with your reads! 😀

  5. I love the Tome Topple Readathon! I’ve participated in every round since I found out about it. I haven’t really decided what I’m reading yet, I’m up in the air a bit because I just ordered one of my possibilities and I’m not sure if it will be delivered in time.

The only ones out of these I’ve read is Obsidio(liked it, but wasn’t my favourite out of the trilogy for..reasons that I can’t say without spoiling it) and The Diviners(I absolutely loved it, the sequel is actually the one I’m waiting to be delivered)

    1. I have a feeling Obsidio won’t be as amazing as the last two, but I’m still really excited 😁😁

And I went on a spontaneous.epis buy and got all three Diviners books…. and they’ve sat on my shelf for about 5 months 😂😂 it’s about time I get to them 😂
