Hello! A bit of a light-hearted post, but that’s what I need right now.I’d realized I hadn’t done a book tag in forever and I was weirdly enough falling in a loop of book review, discussion post, wrap up, rinse and repeat. So as I was perusing the blog-o-sphere, I came across Nehal @ Quirky Pages doing this tag and decided it was an easy and fun enough tag to do!
here’s me highlighting my good reading habits, if you’re interested

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
I read in my room. Let me read anywhere else and that is just an invitation for conversations and people asking me to do things and there’s no closed door and people just don’t understand that I AM AT THE GOOD PART MOM PLEASE LET ME READ.

ahem. sorry.

Bookmark or random piece of paper?
Bookmarks . I have too many to just use a random piece of paper. It actually came to the point where I starting adding them to any gift I was giving someone. Christmas was the time I gave the gift of bookmarks.

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/ a certain amount of pages?
I think it depends. With audiobooks, I can definitely stop whenever, wherever. But with physical books, there just something about holding the book and knowing you can finish if you just give me one more minute…

Do you eat or drink while reading?
I mean yes. I don’t make a pregame cup of tea or anything like that because it will inevitably go cold but… yes. Stay hydrated.

Multitasking- Music or TV while reading?
Fun fact, I need background noise for everything I do. I can’t even fall asleep without the TV on. So, in terms in music vs. TV while reading, music is a bit more distracting, so ill put on a Youtube video and let it auto-cycle through the videos while I read.

One book at a time or several at once?
Again, depends on the format. This ,ay sound strange, but I can’t rad multiple books of the same format at once. If anything, I can read on e-book, one physical book and one audiobook at the same time.

Reading at home or everywhere?
As of late, I’ve been trying to read more outside of home? I branched out to listening to books at work, but recently I listened to a book waiting for my doctors appointment and I was very proud.
if you were talking about physical books…. no. I get to lost in the sauce with those.

Reading out loud or silently in your head?
Nine times out of ten I keep the voices in my head, but I’ve noticed if a books is written in verse, I’ll read it aloud. The prose just hits differently spoken out into the universe.

Do you read ahead or even skip pages?
Yes. When It’s boring, all the time.

Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
When I was younger, I was one of those people that could not break a spine, yet I also bought a lot of used books at the time. And of course, them being used, they came in all kinds of conditions… and I strangely enough didn’t mind. It was only an issue when I did it.
Nowadays, I don’t care. I mean, I’m still gentle with my boos, but if a spine cracks, I’m not freaking out or anything.

Do you write in your books?
That’s one thing I absolutely cannot do. That’s what my notes app is for.

No, but in all seriousness, I just couldn’t. I talk to much and there’s not enough space for me to put everything I want to out in there. AND my handwriting is ugly. But actually, I am semi-okay with highlighting in my books. That’s it.
who am I tagging…?
❥ Cherry @ Letter to the Lost
❥ Karla @ Another Bookworm
❥ Birdie @ Birdie’s Booktopia
❥ Chelsea @ Your Bookish Friend

Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve done a tag! I feel like I’m a bit rusty, but also if you want to do the tag…. DO THE TAG! And tag me so I can see your answers!

I can stop whenever and wherever. One doesn’t have the luxury to finish even a sentence with a hyperactive kid. I don’t mind broken spine with secondhand books but I try to keep them intact if it’s new and yes I also don’t freak out if it breaks because that happens a lot with long books.

Oh I get that— and there’s no multitasking with kids!
Even though I try not to crack my spines, I’ve gotten a lot better with not freaking out about it. I used to be a lot worse… 👀

I’ve sort of trained myself to stop anywhere in a book because I often read in the “in between” moments when waiting, on a train or something similar…but I prefer stopping at the end of the chapter. And I used to be a “no pens in my books!” person and to this day have only really annotated one book (with pencil haha) but it’s one of my most prized possessions now so I want to try and annotate more to see if it changes my reading!

See my only form of annotating is sticky tabs, anything else gives me anxiety 😂 but once I had bought a book secondhand and it had annotations, that was fun to read!

Fun answers! I still need to stop at the end of the chapter for audiobooks, if not I’ll be even more lost haha! I can read multiple physical books at the same time, but I can only read one e-book or audiobook at a time… Weird indeed how different format affects our ability to multi-read!

Thank you! I don’t know, I jump back in and my memory kickstarts hahaha but I do prefer ending the chapter (unless it’s a cliffhanger… 👀)

For some reason I didn’t get the notification that you had tagged me and as I was reading your answers I thought, ‘I would love to do this tag!’ so thank you so much for the tag hun!! 🥰 And haha I related so much to your first answer, I absolutely cannot read with my mom in the room, she will find a way to talk to me 😂 And I agree, I read several books at the same time but can’t read the same format, it’s soo strange! Also tea and books are a match made in heaven! 😍
