2021–Goals and Aspirations

If you were expecting a wrap-up… you’re not getting one. Come back in February for that.

But! I’m just feeling 2021… either that or I’m just desperate for change. So, with the new year comes the goals and I’m going to go easy on myself and not only set reasonable goals, but I’m thinking I’m going for 6 months and see how that goes, yeah?

Now, not all of these will be bookish and none of these will be related to my blogging schedule (save the last one… kind of). I’ve just accepted that when it comes to consistency here, we don’t know her. So stay for the ride.

Consume at least one piece of media through the month

Aha, I have this thing where I want to watch TV shows and I want to read books and I want to play games, but… I have commitment issues. Moreso, I get scared of how attached I get to these things?

So, getting into specifics– I want to start an anime each month. Or, at least be continuously watching one??? Am I making sense? Just a show in general, but I want to get back on my anime game.

my love for Soul Eater holds no bounds.

Speaking of anime…

I want to get into manga this year! This may have to do with the fact that I will forever be salty at Soul Eaters ending and have heard that the manga is infinitely better, but regardless…

… honestly I don’t know why I’m so scared to read them (I do know, I get attached very easily) but we’re trying new things 2021.

I make this goal every year, but this year I feel I can actually follow through with it.

I’ve discovered the joy of listening while at work and there’s no going back. So, at least one audiobook a month. That doesn’t mean a new one each month, but ya’ll know.

You know what? I’m going to push it and say listen to a little bit at least once a week. Yeah, I went there.

I’m currently listening to A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet and I’m really liking it.

Black & Queer books year round

With everything that had happened in 2020, I just have this newfound sense to prioritize these stories.

I don’t want to just read them for Black History Month or Pride month. I don’t want to delegate it to a themed TBR for content. I want to diversify my reading even more.

I’m hoping by the end of the year I can confidently state that the majority of my reads have been diverse.

Utilize Goodreads more

I have completely ditched Goodreads and… I just need to get back into it. Actually, reviews in general are things I need to get back on, I’ve been slacking.

We know my track record with list and goals and such, but! I want to know your goals, how you’re feeling about this year. Are you hopeful? Have you read anything yet? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. I think I am the opposite to you in regards to watching shows etc. I consume so much every month that it’s questionable if I have a life outside these things haha I also get REALLY attached to some of them and the separation once I am done with my way too fast binge of it all is never easy.
