I Regret Buying You || Blogmas Day #11

Top Ten Tuesday was created by  The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.

This Top Ten Tuesday was a freebie and guess who decides to be negative???

Now, this isn’t my Worst Books list… that’ll come later. And a lot of these books weren’t even bought this year- I’m just going through memory lane.

Lost – Sarah Beth Durst

This is one of the first books I’ve ever DNFed and yikesYou know when someone tells you something and you don’t or won’t believe it until you see it? All of the reviews telling me about the creepy romance and the annoying everything… I’m sorry I didn’t listen to you.

Kingdom of Fire series – Jessica Cluess

Review: A Shadow Bright and Burning; A Poison Dark and Drowning; A Sorrow Fierce and Falling

This is one of the rare times that a series has just progressively gone downhill? Because I’ll admit this wasn’t the best in the beginning, but it was interesting and passed the time.

But the last book? Look, we know my thoughts…. We know.

Summer of Supernovas – Darcy Woods

Review

It was the horoscope aspect that caught my attention and instead I got… a love triangle…between brothers The WORST form of the love triangle.

The Assassin’s Curse – Cassandra Clarke Rose

This would’ve been fine if it weren’t for the romance and the ending. Because the premise is EVERYTHING. Pirate and assassin team up?? Magic? A race against time??? Hell Yeah.

Divergent series – Veronica Roth

We’re not going to delve into this. We already know. I have that 5 page essay if you need it.

Cruel Beauty – Rosamund Hodge

I’m always on the lookout for a good Beauty and the Beast retelling: it’s my favorite Disney princess movie after all, but this? Confusing and the true definition of I’m going to kill except not because I fell for you in it’s most annoying form.

The Summer of Chasing Mermaids – Sarah Ockler

I was really here for this and to be honest, my favorite part was the love interest’ brother because just let him be a mermaid dammit. But everything else especially the romance was irritatingly… it made me irritated, okay?

Truthwitch –  Susan Dennard

This book and series tbh is so hyped up, I have no doubt that future books have all kinds of potential: the worldbuilding has yet to be fully explored and there are so many more witches out there, but this first book was so underwhelming… which is why I haven’t read the sequel. #sorrynotsorry

(I plan on reading it, just… give it some time).

Passenger – Alexandra Bracken

Review

Another one I was so excited for: I even made the cover my phone wallpaper. But we know how much this disappointed me. I gripe about this one too much.

Ya know… I may come pack to some of these… it’s the masochist in me.

What are some books you regret buying? I mean, they don’t have to be bad… they can be ugly, too. Let me know in the comments below!

  1. Great post! I’m so happy I’m not the only one who was super underwhelmed by Truthwitch, it’s so boring! I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy Cruel Beauty, I had high hopes for that one since I loved Crimson Bound so much. But I hate that trope so much, I always root for the girl to just kill him anyway 😂

  2. Omg I haven’t read most of these but I have definitely predicted that if I read these books, my reactions would be exactly like this! Now that it is confirmed, I definitely won’t be reading most of these. 🙂
