HAS IT REALLY BEEN NINE MONTHS? WHAT THE HELL???????
Anyway…
So, I learned a lot from the months that I’ve been blogging… and I want to share them. Because when I look back at some of my first reviews, it’s cringey and I’m glad people don’t go back to read them (kind of… you guys can go back there if you want).
1// If you don’t link back to a specific post, that person won’t get a pingback
This is something I just recently learned… and I’m embarrassed. I thought linking straight to a website gave the person a little alert, but noooooo they miss it and I SHOULD’VE KNOWN.
2// I finally learned how to add gifs & videos (aka I learned the most basic coding)
So, at the moment, I’m a free user and I tried to add gifs in my early stages of blogging… and WordPress decided to say they did not support that file. The nerve, right? But I figured it out, I’m trying not to go overboard with them. Which is why you see many of them recycled here.
3// Contacting publishers is still scary
I’ve only talked to three publishers (or they’re the ones who emailed me back) and it is the scariest thing. I’m still always scared when I wake up to an email, or I’m playing Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and I get that notification that interrupts my gameplay. But, when I open that email… it’s so exhilarating. And then it goes back to anxious because I have to respond O.O
4// I semi know how to add a spoiler tag
If I’m honest, this post is what taught me this (and a few other tricks) so thank you ma’am 😀 .
5// The community is nicer than I first believe
When I first started, I noticed everyone was kind of clique-ish. And you know how hard it is to get into a clique. Social media already made me nervous, so I just knew I wouldn’t talk to anyone, I’d get no traffic or views and be forever alone (not that traffic or views really matter to me, but it is nice)… But everyone is so supportive ❤ I still don’t talk to anyone on Twitter (social media anxiety, remember?) however, original ideas about the book community are squashed 🙂 .
7// The WordPress app is glorious
I mentioned in a wrap up that I am in love with this app. It makes commenting so much easier, if I have an idea in the car or something, I can write it down right there. It just so smooth and simple and lovely.
8// Graphics are friends
Back when I first started blogging, I was really nervous about the whole limited space for pictures and stuff and I’ve been through so many design changes (I’m STILL RENOVATING). Before, I wasn’t really as proud of my blog as I am now, so the graphics are more for my self esteem than everything 🙂 .
Yeah, these seem random. I am still kind of naive about this whole thing. But, it was fun to talk about 🙂 .
Wonderful post! I definitely agree with so many of these!! I love this community despite at first being really scared to join it! And yes to the WordPress app!! It’s such a life sever. It’s definitely where I prefer to answer to comments.

Thank you ❤❤ the app is such a life saver; without it, I’d forget to reply to 90% of my comments 😅😅

Yes, contacting publishers is so scary!! It even freaks me out when I get an email from a publisher and have to respond to it! So… exciting yet scary. I’m 100% with you on that one.
And thank you so much for sharing that WP tips & tricks post! I never knew how to do a spoiler tag and you have kind of saved me with that. 🙂

It’s come to the point where I only email publishers if I’m desperate for an ARC (which is the rarest thing😂😂)
And you’re welcome! The spoiler tag thing is a bit tricky to get perfect, but after working with it for a while, I got it down pact 🤗

Lovely post! I totally agree with all of these! And I didn’t know for the longest time if people were getting the ping backs or not! I’m still cared to link to about me pages because I’m not sure if the bloggers will be notified! And the WordPress App is great!!! 💗

Thank you ❤❤ I swear I was so against using the app for some reason and then EVERYTHING CHANGED 😂😂

I also learned the first point the hard way. I tend to link back to people’s about page, but not even that always gives them a pingback! Only if they have comments enabled it works, otherwise you are just shouting into the void haha

See, I didn’t even know about the comments thing!! You learn something new everyday 😅😅

I had no idea about the pingback thing! 😱 and I still have no idea about graphics, I feel like my blog will forever be plain and unadorned 😅

I went through so many trials with my graphics; I’m no guru, so this is as good as it’s going to get 😂😂

Congrats on 9 months of blogging! It’s okay that you didn’t know about those pingback things! I remember when I got a notification for one when I started, I was extremely confused. I thought it was just a spam comment at first!! XD

Thank you ❤ I thought the pingback automatically happened, so when I learned it didn’t, it was such a light bulb moment for me 😂

This is great! And I have been blogging for a year now (well, on this blog) and seriously? If you don’t link to a specific post they don’t get notified? No wonder no one answers me! LOL.

I also just learned about how pingbacks work! I also felt so embarrassed to have not known that you need to link to a random post. I think there should be a periodic PSA about this! I need to check out the WordPress app, if only for those terrifying situations when I scheduled a blog post that isn’t finished and I’m not near my MacBook Pro to change the publication time…
