2018 Reading Resolutions – Check In and Reconsideration

Reading Goals and Resolutions.jpg

At the beginning of the month, I did a T5W on 2018 Reading Resolutions and it kind of hit me a few days ago that the year is halfway over. And… I’m pretty sure that I didn’t get through most of the listed resolutions… which is because of the fact that I forgot that these goals were a thing.

And that’s where the reconsideration will come in. I may make new goals and they may be a bit more realistic. Because I am known be kind of forgetful; I’m not doing too much, but I do want to make some changes.

Series Completion

I’ve talked about my non-purposeful aversion to finishing or continuing series. So, I at least want to buy more sequels<— that’s the priority before I start completing series.

I’m never doing this again

I honestly thought I did better than… THAT. Yikes.

So…. I mentioned my lack of book buying lately… and I haven’t finished ANY series… BUT LOOK AT THAT CHART. Except I don’t really count this as any kind of win… I’ll do better.

Re-read 3 books that made you cry

There are a few books that I’m looking at right now on my shelf that have made me bawl that I really want to re-read. Is that masochist? Maybe.

I haven’t re-read three books that made me cry. However, I read two books that made me cry… I know it doesn’t count, but I still want to do this one, so watch out for that 😉 .

Read more comics/graphic novels/anthologies

I’ve already bought the first four books in the Saga series, the first book in the Monstress series and I plan on preordering The Prince and the Dressmaker in February. Plus Because You Hate To Love Me. That’s a start 🙂 .

I have read every book listed above, though I only made it to vol. 2 in the Saga series, but I did buy vol. 2 (special edition might I add) of Monstress. But other than that, I want to read A Thousand Beginnings and Endings and that’s the only book that qualifies on this challenge that I can think of. Any recommendations?

** oh and The Steel Prince by V.E. Schwab because-

I mean-

damn this look good. He also looks good can’t even lie

Try a poetry book

I glanced inside Milk and Honey when I was browsing through Barnes a Noble and didn’t care for it… I seem to gravitate towards poetry like Life Is Fine and Failing and Flying. So my goal is to find a poetry book that speaks to me.

This one might stay a failure. I just haven’t found or looked for a poetry book that speaks to me… Oh well 😦 .

New Goals

Does this need to be explained? It’s taken me A YEAR to get 26% in… it’s ridiculous.

Ace Books

I noticed 2018 is the year of the asexuals. I mean, a lot of books are coming out with ace main characters or ace characters in general AND I’M HERE FOR IT.

I’m not going to add more goals since I know me… and I’m very subjected to failure. But it’s fine, wish me luck!

  1. I also would like to read some poetry and I’m in the same boat as you that I looked at Milk & Honey and knew it wasn’t for me…. Let me know if you find anything more your style & I’ll have to check it out too.

I’m next in line at the library for The Prince and the Dressmaker & I’m excited about it 😀

      1. The more I like a series the harder it is to finish 😬 I just enjoy them to much and don’t want it to be over
I loved Salt. but Nejma is good too 💕

  2. Ace characters!!! What books do you have in mind? The only one I can think of off the top of my head is “Let’s Talk About Love,” but I’m kinda (really) bad at keeping up with all the new releases coming out, lol.

      1. Ohhh, I looked those all up, and they sound so good!! Hoping I can get them at the library because my bank account would not be happy otherwise, lol
