The Confession Chronicles || Literal Book Thief {#3}

Past chronicle

People knew my name and it feared it. Lock up your books, the Book Thief is on the prowl.

I promised this a month ago? Better late than never ¯\_()_/¯.

After the last Confession Chronicle, I thought I’d tell you about my criminal past. I stopped stealing books after the seventh grade after a close call, but I was good at it. Which is probably why I loved The Book Thief as much as I do, I relate so hard. I started stealing books in elementary school and it became an addiction.

There are a few books that I still own— a book on the frog life cycle, The Hungry Caterpillar, The Thief Lord and To Kill a Mockingbird, though that was my freshman year of high-school… don’t really know why I stole that one, I don’t ever read the story… I’M TELLING YOU IT’S AN ADDICTION.

However, my biggest book heist was from my middle school library. I was reading The Secret Order of the Gumm Street Girls and I wasn’t loving it, but I wasn’t far enough into it to know if we would click.

The bell rang and I was not leaving until I got a solid answer on our relationship. And you know how libraries have those stickers on their books and the weird metal detectors book detector thingies? Well my brain forgot that and I sped walked through the detector… and it went off. Luckily, there was a group really close behind me, so they got stopped while I made my grand escape. The rest of the school day I was sweating buckets thinking they would do a school wide search. I mean, they didn’t, but that’s not the point.

Despite all that work, the book was meh. I stuck it in the friend-zone and went into retirement.
