Book Buying Habits Tag {a.k.a I’M BAAAAACK}

I saw this tag over at Karis @Karis Book‘s blog, though it was originally created by Meagan Oliver which you can see here!

GUESS WHO’S BACK! I swear I was going to last longer, but… I also mentioned I might come back in two weeks, sooooo….. technically, I didn’t lie ¯\_()_/¯.

But since it’s mother’s day, I decided to do a light post (Happy Mother’s Day by the way !) so let me get into these questions:

Where do you buy your books?

Mostly Barnes and Noble (I kind of ditched Amazon after they went from $10.99 to $12.99 😡 ), but if I online shop, I go for the used section, because I’m cheap ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

DO you ever pre-order books?

I do, especially when there’s cool pre-order goodies or if it’s a favorite author of mine… or if it’s cheaper than normal.

On Average, how many books do you buy a month?

Ah… because I buy cheap, used books, it tends to be a lot… I’m going to go with ten? But it might be more than that… I don’t actually know (it is quite a few) but for the past two months, I haven’t really been buying books? It’s the candles, they’re taking my money T_T .

Do you use your local library?

I DOOOOOO (I’m still really excited about this XD )

How many books does you library let you borrow at one time?

Well… I use Overdrive and their limit is 45.

What is your opinion on library books?

Library books are awesome. I like creating a collection and usually don’t want to give them back, but library books are nice. I always have the thought that this book has been through quite a journey, like I’m holding an artifact or something…

How do you feel about second hand books?

90% of my shelf is second hand books. I have no issue with them, as long as I can read and enjoy 🙂 .

Do you keep your TBR pile on your main bookshelves?

I used to, but now I have a mini bookshelf next to it that holds all the books I bought that I have yet to read… it is filling up though… yikes.

Do you plan to read all of the books you own?

Yeah, I bought them with that intention and I usually do… if I DNF it, then that’s a different story…

What do you do with books you feel you will never read/did not enjoy?

I put them on top of my main bookshelf, so in the future I can donate them.

Have you ever donated books?

I have not! I don’t actually know how to go about it if I’m honest. Do I leave them in one of those donation trucks they leave outside? Do I walk into a store to give them away? I DON’T KNOW AND I’M TOO NERVOUS TO ASK.

Have you ever been on a book buying ban?

No. I never thought I’d need to, though I have been on a semi similar one, where I buy books I know I’m going to read as soon as they get here or around that time.

Do you feel that you buy too many books?

The book lover in me wants to say no, but probably. I tend to impulse buy book boxes so I can read the whole trilogy at once, only to read the first one and have the rest of the series sitting there waiting for me (I swear I’ll get to them though XD).

Guess who I’m tagging…?

  • YOU!!!

Since I’m coming back from hiatus, I won’t be tagging anyone, but I do encourage all of you to do it 🙂 .

This was a great comeback post, considering I didn’t know what I was going to post… But yeah. I do have a lot of post on the back burner ready to be showed to the world, so be ready for that 😉 .

  1. I have to agree with Ally, so glad you’re back. 🙂

I usually buy almost all my books at Barnes and Noble, because I have a membership there and free shipping for anything is such a bargain. I never perused the used section until I wanted to get one of Emma Mills’ books and I realized it’s a gold mine. I’ll definitely be checking it out in the future.

      1. I was just going to say – Go to your library and ask if they accept donations. My library has a room near the back for donations that I just dump everything in. I only had to ask once and now I don’t need to talk to anyone at all 🙂 I feel ya being an introvert ❤

  2. I’m *trying* to be on a book buying ban. I don’t have much room for books and I consider myself a minimalist, and I’ve started to have to move things like clothes around to cater to my books. I actually donate all of my books after reading them unless a friend wants it/them and in that case I give it to them!

  3. Library books ARE awesome! if I buy books, it’s either ebook format off Google or here in Canada, it’s Chapters Indigo.
oh, we also have a discount book store called Book Outlet which I go to too!

      1. LOL..I know..kinda sucks that the titles are a bit old. I’m a slow reader, so it works out sometimes 😉

  4. I’m kind of thinking of ditching Kindle full price books now too…I don’t see the point of spending $10.99 (10.99 is ok if I REALLY want the book.) But 12.99 for something we are just “renting for an unlimited amount of time until Amazon/Kindle sees otherwise?” Meeeeeh.

  5. Welcome back!! 💗 I really love this Tag, it’s always very interesting to see the book buying habits of fellow bookworms 🙂 I’ve only ever donated books once and that was to my local library: I just walked up to the front desk and asked them about it + they took them 🙂
