Hey, I’m back with the recommendations! And with the release of Obsidio a few weeks ago and no T5W for this week… and having a busy month, I was thinking: what other sci-fi books do I really enjoy? So here I am, letting you know while lowkey recommending them killing two birds with one stone 🙂 .
Warcross duology – Marie Lu
Books: { Warcross }; { Wildcard }
So, despite the duology being incomplete as of now, I really enjoyed the video game aspect of it. I’m not a gamer, which at first had me doubting if I’d vibe with this book, but it was overall really cool and light if you don’t want anything deep.
I have a review of Warcross if you want to check it out 🙂 .
The Martian – Andy Weir
Book: { The Martian }
Oh look, I bet you didn’t see this one coming ¯\_(⌣̯̀⌣́)_/¯ . This was probably one of the first books to make me genuinely laugh out loud and made me feel smart at the same time. I felt like I could go to Mars and survive because I knew what I was doing (I wouldn’t survive… but still…)
I have a review of The Martian if you want to check it out 🙂 .
Stitching Snow – R.C. Lewis
Book: { Stitching Snow }
I read this one a while ago and it was such an unexpected read for me. I was debating putting on this one on here, because I don’t know if a lot of people would vibe with this, but again, it’s light, a Snow White retelling and deals lightly with sexual abuse without making it a plot device + a super tiny romance.
Constellation series – Claudia Gray
Books: { Defy the Stars }; { Defy the Worlds }
This one is probably the most romantic of them all featuring an AI and a human, but honestly? Was not expecting to be down for this love. This is actually a first time I was really feeling this trope if I’m honest. Yet it also deals with religion in a way that doesn’t force it down your throat, it’s not a plot device but more of something that makes the character who they are. I’m not super religious, so this type of thing doesn’t really bother me, but I’ve seen reviews of people who also said they weren’t bothered by it.
and last but not least…

The Illuminae Files – Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff !!!
Books: { Illuminae }; { Gemina }; { Obsidio }
You thought this one wasn’t going to be added??? I rave about this one all the time. I recommend this for those who are trying to get into audiobooks, those that want a some death with angsty romance. But most of all…. AIDEN. If nothing else, go for AIDEN. Because I love him and he is the best.
I have a review of Illuminae and Gemina if you want to check ’em out 🙂 .
Despite all of the Sci-Fi books I read, there are only a few that I can say I actually like. I didn’t add the Lunar Chronicles because books 2 & 3 are… not my favorite? Plus a few others because they’re really popular… so yeah 🙂 .
Lovely recommendations! I really have to read more sci-fi books, I think it’s a genre I tend to neglect a lot, sadly. But there are so many books on your list that I’d like to read in the future, hopefully your post will make me more motivated. Thank you very much! ❤

You’re welcome! Despite me claiming Sci-Fi as a favorite genre, I can’t claim many as favorites. I definitely have to read more too 😃❤

I just finished Warcross and it’s AMAZING! Definitely have had Illuminae for too long on my Kindle, so I should step into that soon.

I keep coming across the Illuminae Files and I think I’ve had the first one on my TBR list for a while now but I think your endorsement might have just pushed it much higher on my list

I also loved the Martian. Have you read the Starbound series by Amy Kaufman and Meagan Spooner? It was such an interesting read for me, its sci-fi fantasy, and I liked it way more than I thought I would. Each book features different characters but their stories start to converge towards the end. I’d recommend checking it out. Also sorry for two back to back comments lol, I got to eager when I posted the first one and the realized I had more to say!

I have the second one on my TBR (which is weird 😂) but have been procrastinating on buying them, but I heard they’re pretty good!
